64bit game on 64bit pc

installed a 64bit game on my 64bit win7 pc, but wont play. when I run, a blue background dos screen box flashes for a split second,and nothing happens

I think that's the problem. There is something wrong with the game as it was a copy or wasn't the original. I think it will be a wise choice to wait for the game and buy as games that are not downloaded properly will have bugs.

Your laptop should be more than capable of playing at medium in my opinion.

So here's a few questions:
Did you buy the game?
How old is your laptop?
Do you update the drivers?
Did you ever have a laptop cooler (may sound silly but it's important)?

no I did not buy the game (its not available in my country yet, nor can I download it-on account of copyright issues), the hp notebook is only a year old, drivers are all updated and the dv7 did have a cooling problem which has since been fixed. For example, I can play other heavyweight games like dead space 3, or tomb raider, crysis 3 etc...without a problem
