Hello everyone,

I found a hard drive from a computer that no one was using and was trying to use it for personal use as an external hard drive. When I plug it in, the hd isnt detected in computer nor disk management. The case is working 100%. I tested it with other hds. My computer does a beep saying that it detects that something was plugged in via usb. I have also tried installing the hd internally to see if it would show up but it still does not.
Anyone know how to fix this issue? or is the hd completely dead.
Thanks in advance!

The HDD is dead if you can't hear it or feel it spinning up when connected to power.

All Windows needs for a successful "connected" beep via a USB enclosure is that it's connected properly and getting power. So even if the disk itself is dead you'll still get the beep if those conditions are met.

The Hd still runs and I can hear it start up. but every second or so, it does some kind of click, anyway to know what those clicks mean?
