Hi guys,

Ive been trying to deploy BIOS updates to machines across our network and it is not completing them. I think it is because when running a BIOS update a prompt appears asking the user whether they want to continue (this happens when manually running on computers).

Any way I can get round this?

Or does anyone know an alternative method? Ive read a lot about using SCUP because all our machines are dells.

I'm using SCCM 2007 and there are a range of Optiplex Dell machines which need updating.

Thanks in advance.

Tom

Depends on your bios installer.
If it supports switches like silent install and auto accept all prompts.
Or xml install instructions.
Also most bios updates require elevated access so make sure it runs under admin account.
--------
Best to check with manufacturer if they have info but if it's exe install then it most likely won't work.

Yeah I'm making sure that it runs as an admin.
Thanks for the advice

Why would you do mass bios updates? Usually(especially in a corporate environment) you only do bios upgrades before the OS install and then only to fix errors that will be fixed with a bios upgrade. Upgrading the bios just because there's a newer bios may not really accomplish anything, and could actually cause problems.

Thanks but I'm just trying to become familiar with all the features which SCCM offers and how to incorporate what dell offers SCCM users. Currently trying this in a test environment and would like to know, personally, and for the future.
