Okay so on startup the computer goes through its normal startup checks, it flashes differend LED's then finally the BOOT_DEVICE_LED lights up - In red. I have an intel 120GB SSD connected. When the SSD IS connected the BIOS screen saying 'Please predd DEL or F2' shows up but freezes on it so that i cannot press anything. However, when the SSD isn't connected, the BIOS loads straight to the BIOS home page and I can change settings. I have checked all the power connections, RAM seating and SATA connections. I have even tried changing the SATA ports and SATA cables to the SSD. After looking online i tried resetting the CMOS, and have flashed the BIOS. My specs are as below.

Intel i7 3770K
Asus P8Z77-V Pro
2x8GB Dominator RAM
Corsair H80i
Intel 520 SSD 120GB
2TB Seagate HDD

Thanks!

I have had the SSD plugged into the Dark Blue SATA ports. On the BIOS if i start without the SSD plugged in then the optical drive and HDD both display in the boot priority list. I also only have a laptop (no spare PC to connect the SSD to for testing) - are there any BIOS settings i need to update to allow the SSD to work?

EDIT: Ok so yeah, switched to the grey SATA (intel) and same problem still exists

EDIT 2: I have a plan, I am going to try creating a partition on the HDD, install windows on it, then check the SSD from that!

Okay, so I am making slow progress.. I used my laptops HDD to boot on the PC, i installed intel SSD toolbox and the SSD has full health and i can see all the files, i ran the optimization. So what i think is happening: The SSD has lost its properties to BOOT and for some reasons freezes the POST (I think its called that) and stops on the splash screen. Does the main storage need to be the active file in the SSD, or the 100MB system reserved? I then tried to use my windows install disk (USB drive) to go on and repair so that it would boot, the drive wouldn't show on there although would in windows 7. I am going to try and find ASUS drivers for SSD's and one for in windows to then show and repair the SSD.

Any ideas? Please help!

Hello! I know it's old post, but I just registered to say o-my-god THANK YOU, Louis Hacking, for posting the solution.
My problem with SSD was exact the same and it happened after I've run "ssd optimization" in Perfect Disk (was using many times without any problems before). Today my PC refused to load with exact same symptoms.
I've unplugged my failed SSD, loaded to BIOS and turned on hot plug option. Then I loaded from livecd, plugged failed ssd and run chkdsk. It fixed the problem and my PC and Windows loaded!
Thank you again, +1000 to your Karma! <3
