Hi,

I'm putting together a secondary pc to play some older games and I have ran into a problem.

everytime I try to turn on the pc the fans and hdd start spinning but there's no image on the screen and no beeps when its turning on, and the led's on my keyboard (caps, scroll lock, num lock) keep flashing.

my specs:

Motherboard: ASUS P5B SE (Latest Bios)

CPU: Core 2 Duo E6600

GPU: ASUS GT520 Silent (also tried a nvs 290 in the board and still no picture)

RAM: 4x 1gb ddr2 pc2-5300u

UPDATE: Just tried resetting CMOS and that didn't help also tried another cpu E2180.

Solution
Start over. Double check all connections to the motherboard including reseating the RAM, the ATX power connector and CPU power connectors to the board. Is the cpu fan spinning? Is the RAM you're using on the qualified vendor list for that motherboard, it may be incompatible with that board. That's not as likely these days but that's a little bit older board and compatibility could be an issue. My first guess is always the power supply though.

What is the brand and model number of your power supply? Quite often they can supply power to the secondary components like fans but fail to provide stable voltage to the motherboard or cpu. Are the fans powered through the motherboard headers or are they straight off 4 pin molex? Check all the...
