Games Stop Responding

Hey Guys,

I have an issue with many of my games where I can play the game from anywhere between 10 mins to an 1 hour and then it just stops responding. I then have to go into task manager and end the process. Also what happens many times is in 3D games, I can see under the terrain just before it freezes up completely.

My specs:
CPU: i7 4790K
Mobo: Asus VII Ranger
GPU: Asus GTX 770
OS: Windows 8.1 64bit
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 250GB
HD: WD 1TB Caviar black

is your pc overclocked if it is, it may be due to the heat

No it is not over clocked It was averaging about 50-60 degrees c

the temperature is ok
you said you can see under the terrain while the game freezes
i didnt quite under stand under the terrain

As in the terrain in the game will disappear temporarily and then come back, so I am thinking it is something to do with the graphics card? Also sorry, forgot to mention that until I reboot the computer all games play on lower fps.

Could it be faulty RAM? I was having an issue with it the other day.

then try removing your ram and clean it by rubbing an eraser against the gold plates gently only rub the gold plates and restart your computer with the cleaned ram inserted

Ok I have now cleaned and reseated the RAM (I noticed that according to the motherboard manual I had accidentally placed them in the wrong position) I will now go and play some games to see if that has fixed it.

Ok so after playing for several hours it has now frozen again but it does not happen as much as it did before

is your hdd in good condition
have you got any cd with the graphics card if yes did you install it
the cd contains drivers for the graphics card
ALSO try updating your direct x and drivers

Sometime there can also be a problem of some missing software for game or software has not been updated (like VC-Redistributable or Directx). Also keep yours drivers updated. According to your system specs, this rig can run all games at good frame rates.

Just discovered that apparently registry files are missing would that have anything to do with it?

If there is registry files problem then its better to install fresh copy of windows.
