Modded Skyrim keeps crashing/freezing/infinite loading

Good day everyone,
My GTX 780 DC2 OC arrived yesterday and the first thing I did was load up a lot of the most popular mods (I don't know if it's actually that many) and started to play. It crashed a couple of times after about 30m of playing and I thought it was a problem with load order/conflicting mods. I then ran LOOT and it didn't find any problem with the LO. I am unsure how to check mod compatibility issues but I am assuming that when nexus mod manager asks whether to replace overlapping textures, by choosing one I am eliminating the conflict.
This morning then I started play again and it crashed quite a lot. Often times it was when I found myself in a grass field. Additionally, I was monitoring my FPS and it was at a constant 40, which dropped to 20 in grassy areas.
Have I gone overboard with the mods? Or is it simply the grass mod I installed that is causing these problems? I suspect that the cause is GPU overheating but I haven't monitored my ingame temps (what program should I use?):
Lastly, I benchmarked my card with unigine valley extreme present fullscreen and my card never surpassed 55°C, does that mean that my modded Skyrim is more demanding than said proigram?

NB:
I am running mostly high res texture packs, real vision ENB, grass field & lush trees and finally enhanced distant terrain.

Any help is appreciated,
Thanks!

I run 100+ mods with a Radeon 4800 series. I highly doubt your video card is the issue. Most likely it is some kind of mod conflict. Have you tried running BOSS? It's what I use to detect possible errors. Of course, it does not catch everything.

Some mods have to be installed in a certain order, overwriting certain files to bypass compatibility issues. The mod descriptions on Nexus should tell you if you have to do anything of the sort; I often had errors if I skipped a certain step. Some environment mods also require you to edit .ini files, which could be the cause as well.

If you want to be extra safe, uninstall all the mods, then reinstall them one at a time while referring to each mod's page on Nexus to determine if you are using another mod that will need to be installed before or after. Then run BOSS, and probably LOOT as well (I'm not so familiar with LOOT).

I have run LOOT and let it sort my load order (I also double checked it myself) so I am confident it is not this kind of issue. How to I check for compatibility issues? And once I have found them, what must be done to resolve them? I heard of tesvedit and wrye bash but I could not understand how to work with them..

To be honest, the problems only began when I managed to install the RealVision ENB preset B with Enhanced Lights & FX alongside the grass + trees mods.

What will happen to my save file when I deactivate all mods? Will the game still load? Thanks.

Boss is a program that will sort load orders as well as check for incompatibilities and errors.

If you deactivate all your mods, your save file will not work correctly. However, if you end up reinstalling all the same mods, there should be no issue. In general, mods that alter things like graphics or textures should be safe to remove and add at any time. It is usually stuff that adds specific content--items, quests, locations, etc--that cause errors if you remove them.

I would still check each mod's page for any installation instructions. Even if your load order is correct, some mods run into various issues with other mods for a myriad of reasons. It's a long, annoying process, but it's the best way to make sure you don't run into errors.

I decided to install a fresh version of skyrim and follow this man's instructions to mod skyrim: http://youtu.be/O_gqhkELdIE

From my understanding, according to you my card should have no problem running a heavily modded skyrim at ~60FPS?

This is a quick rundown of the more intense mods I was running:
Lush Trees & Grass
Dat Grass
Skyrim Flora Overhaul
Real Vision preset B
Enhanced Lighting & FX
Enhanced Distance
Skyrim Lighting Overhaul
All Skyrim HD 2k LITE packs
WATER
Pure Waters
RICE
Rocks & Snow 4096 Presets

And a few other texture packs..
Is this too much?
One last question, are you aware of any Beginner's modding guide (for real newbies)
Thanks :D

You're running multiple grass and water mods? I don't know their specific installation instructions, but as a rule, I tend to pick just one. Sometimes those files overlap and it could be what's causing you to crash in grassy areas. Double check to make sure they are compatible with each other.

It might have been the grass & water mods although I did check their compatibilities. Skyrim Floral Overhaul is not compatible with the other two so when I select the former the latter are disabled.
