Hello,

This is my first build. I have browsed TsH forums since a month for info.

I was planning to go with 4th gen Intel, but the choice of MBs in India is very narrow and the ones that I want are expensive.

My aim is to dualboot FreeBSD and Linux(Hence Intel) with e17 WM (consumes less mem)
Use Bhvye/virtualbox/KVM/ to run VMs(3-4, 512-1GB each)
The VMs are not for any hardcore work, save for learning about DBs and Unix/linux clustering/HA (I'm in IT! )

I have choosen Pentium G2030 over Core i3 3220 after much deliberations.
i3 is double the price of Pentium in India and I don't need HD2500, Hyper-Threading is effective only in some cases.
These were the only two options that I have, that are within my budget.

So please take a look at this config and suggest whether-
1. The MB and PSU are compatible(I am worried about the connectors)
2. Suggest any other compact/small Micro ATx case which supports modular cages, like 5/3.5 ==> 2.5 HDDs, and with 4 expansion slots.

3. Suggest any Freebsd/Linux compatible wireless card.
4. I believe most of the Nvidia cards have drivers for both BSD and Linux, correct?

MB: Gigabyte GA-B75-D3H Rev 1.2
PSU : Crosair CX500
RAM: 1600 MTs 4GB (Should I bump this to 8GB?)
SSD: 128GB SATA III (only for the OS)
HDD: 500GB SATA II (Storage)
Case: Cooler Master Elite 443

You should get the Pentium G3258 if it's available where you live - it's based on the far newer LGA 1150 as opposed to LGA 1155, and most importantly, it's a low cost Intel CPU that can be overclocked.

Thanks for the reply :)

Its a good processor no doubt about that. But like I said, getting a moderately featured LGA 1150 board on reasonable price is hard in India. And for a MB which supports overclocking the pricing is ridiculous.
I think Indian retailers either lag or deliberately hold back the newly launched products.

Anyways I have ordered the listed MB ,CPU and SSD. I am waiting to get a proper PSU for B75-d3h board.
My main worry now is will Crosair CX500 have the 8 Pin ATX connector for this board(rev 1.2)?

Yeah I think that's true based on what I've seen from most of the Indian users on this board. But if you can get something like a H81 motherboard and a Pentium G or Intel i3-4XXX CPU that would be ideal.
