Dear Forum contributers,
May I please ask if some here do know - which mobo of the newest ASUS Z97 mobo´s, do support 4x8GB=32GB @2400MHz of the Kingston KHX24C11T3K2/16X Which new ASUS Z97 supports 32GB @2400MHz of 4 Kingston KHX24C11T3K2/16X ?

Right now I have a ASUS Z97-A and I found out this model did ONLY support XMP with TWO (2) of these Kingston KHX24C11T3K2/16X (2x8GB) at the full speed of 2400MHz and the full range of 32GB, but now when I added two more of the very same Kingston KHX24C11T3K2/16X all the RAM works only (only booting with) in the lowered speed of 1333MHz and I am kinda sorry for my poor knowledge and leading to this mistake, when I was NOT checking out the ability to support all 4 (4x8GB=32GB) in the higher native speed of 2400MHz BEFORE I purchased the two additional new memory sticks!

Now I wonder if there is ANY ASUS MoBo specialist here, who may know which of the ASUS 97-chipped MoBo; DO support this memory with all the four installed and working @ the speed of 2400MHz or at least faster than 1333MHZ?

I would very very much appreciate your expert help in this situation to find a ASUS motherboard that will support these memory sticks with their native speed of full 2400MHz with 32GB (4x8GB)!

Wishing you all a nice coming weekend!

/Charl

Solution
You put the set in, enable XMP and go to spec 2400, adding additional sticks if it doesn't work properly and it often won't it reverts to to the mobos default, often 1333, then you hae to set them up manaully, if the sticks are mixed sets often takes voltage/timing adjustments to get them to all play nice

First things first, you have 2 sets of 2x8GB, correct? So you are trying to mix two sets of DRAM which is never recommended, for one thing the XMP profile on the sticks is by the set (here for 2 sticks not 4 (i.e. a two stick set may want an advanced tRFC timing of 256 or so where a 4 stick set may need 314), also a 4 stick set is tested to all play together, this is why the 4 stick set normally costs a little more than 2 Two stick sets, it takes more testing to find 4 sticks that will alll play nice.

I've built on a few of the Asus Z97 mobos and most all of the Z87 and didn't have troubles with any and 32GB 2400 sets (but they were 4 stick sets - not mixed)

Go into the BIOS and look in the advanced timings and see what the tRFC is at, also what voltage is the DDRVTT at, what is the DRAM voltage at, and what CPU and it's OC and we can set up some (hopefully) settings that will work

^Yes that is confusing even me, how can 2 sticks run @ 2400MHz and it becomes 1333MHz with 4 sticks, when you can't config sticks indivdually. And his MoBo, as of my knowledge should run 32GB @2400MHz. Maybe some setting're not right, check Tradesman's first reply and check all relevant settings.

I have issues with ASUS MAXIMUS VII HERO and KHX24C11T3K4/32X. I could not use more then one stick clocked to 2400MHZ with XMP Profile #1. Yes once I managed to run system with all sockets occupied and even prime95 and film editing/encoding was flawless but the following restart ended up in the boot loop.

All modules KHX24C11T3K4/32X clocked to 2133Mhz (Profile #2) were always working.

I tried to increase vccsa (up to 1.25V) and vccio analog/digital (up to 1.2V), also enabled another ram training and disabled the fast ram initialization and it did not help either. The issue is quite random I'd say.

So I would not recommend ASUS Z97 with KHX24C11T3K4/32X, especially combining the two different packages of KHX24C11T3K2/16X.

If this post is reading someone with good ASUS mobo + 32GB ram CL10 or CL11 sticks please let me know about the specs. The good thing is I can return both the mobo and the ram modules. Bad thing is I do not know which side to blame and what is the alternative.

My specs:asus hero VII, intel 4790k, 32gb ram 2400MHZ, Gigabyte GTX 660 OC for film editing.

Hi Tradesman1,

I keep everything auto except the settings affecting the memories (vccsa, vccio). My aim is to run KHX24C11T3K4/32X on 2400Mhz, nothing else. CPU runs on default 4.0-4.4.

My Prime95 stress test was running without any glitch. Also editing video was so fluent. There is an issue during the startup phase when the memories go thru the "3B" boot step.

Ok I will try it. I am not in any way experienced in this. Does it mean I need to rise from 4.0 to 4.2? Because in the auto mode I can not see any values.

@Tradesman1 Thank you very much. Good news. After two days elaborating with the BIOS I've managed to run KHX24C11T3K4/32X at 2400Mhz. I am running Prime95 right now. I'll come back to confirm.

Btw I have noticed that during the prime95 test the CPU frequency keeps at 4.2, is that correct behavior? Before I could see it running at 4.0 - 4.4. It means the booster is disabled once I set a different core ratio (in my case 42)?

UPDATE: The Torture test was running for 30 mins without problem. But I did not see the Turbo frequency 4.4 but always 4.2. I thought I'd see something between 4.2 - 4.4.

UPDATE2: So after restart the system ends up in the boot loop again. The solution based on increasing vccsa or cpu ratio is not robust enough.

UPDATE3: Asus AI Suite III overwrites my configuration.

Thank you. Asus AI Suite III is overwriting my BIOS configuration. Raising CPU voltage did not help (keep whatever Asus utility from changing the configuration).

Hello Tradesman1!

Sorry for the delay of finding out the values!
You told me to go into the BIOS and look in the advanced timings and see what the tRFC is at, also what voltage is the DDRVTT at, what is the DRAM voltage at, and what CPU and it's OC and we can set up some (hopefully) settings that will work

I am not sure if the answer below would be of any help, but after checking up ASUS SPED INFO I found these values you asked for:

tRFC is at (or tRCD = 9

the DDRVTT I did not find.

DRAM voltage was 1.674 v
Working under JDEC 1333MHz
tCL = 9
tRCD = 9
tRP = 9
tRAS = 24
tRC = 33

Also did the CPU-Z reporting this:

Thank you so very much again for your very good expert advice!
However I am totally new to this new type of "BIOS" UEFI and I really tried to find the values us asked from the BIOS.
I have posted them above within you first answer for solution above!
The other problem for me is that I am not sure if I can manage to adjust the voltage/timing in order to get the two diffrent sets of 2 X 8GB but of exactly same type and brand but not adjusted all four together as you informed me that should be the normal case (but of course with even to a higher cost/price).

So I might need someone like you who do have the skills and good knowledge how to adjust the memorybanks/stick to co-operating nicely together as "fellow-brothers".
Thank you for your valued advices and I do appreciate to learn more of the DDR3 RAMs and how they do actually work in the context of the whole rigg!

Wishing you all the very Best!

Charl

Hi guys, good news (I hope the last one). I have returned the sticks and got new ones (also Kingston's Beasts khx24c11t3k4/32x). I have set the XMP to Profile #1 (2400Mhz). Now the system boots up on the first attempt (A0, before it had reached 40 or 3B). The previous sticks were just bad even with each working when other three were out of mobo. No additional BIOS/voltage tweaking is necessary. Prime95's Tortue test with over 30GB ram occupied was without error for tens of minutes.

Glad to hear that :)

After some time (four days) the system started to boot up with problems again due to the memory OC to 2400MHZ. There are between one to ten attempts to boot up successfully. I really do not understand why the memories are listed in the compatibility document http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1150/MAXIMUS-VII-HERO/MAXIMUS_VII_HERO_MEMORY_QVL.pdf

It seems I need to make the system more robust with increasing some voltages. I will try the tradesman1 advice first to increase the base multiplier a bit.

Increasing the base multiplier to 42 did not help. Neither the 5 ways tuning from Asus utility AI or disabling the fast boot (or the memory fast boot) . New thing to me is the behavior when only after windows restart the boot up process ends up in a multiple attempt loop. If I power off the system then it boots up without any problem with the Profile #1 (2400Mhz).
