Hi there,

As the title says, I am not to sure if I should get either the 4k monitor or the 1440p.

Got already 2x1440p and I need to say that I enjoy playing at that resolution, I do games like metro and CS:GO.

I'm not to sure if upgrading to 4k should be wise because 4K is still very young and forthe time being, the highest refresh rate is only 60hz.

To take matters worse, I don't own any nvidia cards, I do however got 1x290x and will be adding another one so I could get enough juice to either play at 4k or 1440p.

G sync seems promising but only works on nvidia, free sync is still in the works and I'm quite sure the rog monitor wont support free sync.

Since one of these 2 choices will be my main monitor (for gaming and then for youtube/videos) I dont really know which one would just do good.

4k looks amazing, a lot of detail comparing to 1080p,comparing to 1440p I would say is a bit more but not that much.

Finally, reason dictates that I should get the 4k monitor, then wait until another 4k monitors comes out that has a higher refresh rate and that will work with AMD cards using free sync. I say this because the 4k is becoming the norm in the industry, slowly slowly is replacing the 1080p which was the main hype for a long time.

However, I also reason to myself that I have already 2x1440p monitors and that ought to get another one because looking at 4k for games or whatever else and then to 1440p might be somehow uncomfortable(I have not done that test but I assume that I will look odd)

What would you do?

Thanks.

The G-Sync is useless to my because I dont own any Nvidia card and I dont really see the point of selling them just to get this monitor working, however just for curiosity, which card will perform equal or even better than my current Asus 290x DCU II?

Thanks

Outta the box, the 290x is a bit faster (3 - 5%) than the 780....the If both overclocked, the Asus 780 outperforms the Asus 290x. Skip to 8:40 mark

The reference 780 Ti is about 6 % faster then the 290x reference outta the box but again climbs substantially when both overclocked.

The MSI is the highest rated over at Techpowerup with a 9.9 rating, next closest IIRC is a 9.5

Most telling feature is that the MSI is 1/4 as loud as the 290x in uber (each 10 dbA is a doubling of perceived sound )

This one you mean?

http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193_1577&products_id=26488

It's quite expensive +I would need 2 in total so I could run SLI, then the Monitor... I will be going out of my budget.
