I've ordered parts for my first build and the Hard drives I'm using arrived today. I'm using an ssd hdd combo for storage, nd when looking at the ssd manual it says I need to plug it into a usb slot and use the disk to install it, do I really need to do this? And also how am I supposed to do this, if necessary, on the computer when I wouldn't have an os installed until I have the ssd installed

I didn't have to have the driver disk at all. Just install you OS and you should be fine. The disk that comes with the Samsung 840 EVOs has other software that is not necessary in order to run/boot/function. I have two Samsung 840 EVO 250GB in Raid 0. Depending on the HDD you have, you might have to go get the individual drivers for it from the manufacturer's website. Otherwise, it's pretty much plug and play.

Cheers, I thought it would probably be some drivers or something but I'm gonna install them by usb drive anyway

That manual is just for if you:

1. want to clone an existing HDD
2. if you do not have any internal connections available to connect the SSD for the clone.

All you need to do is boot to the windows install disc and install windows onto your drive of choice

When you go to install Windows it will as which partition you wish to install the OS. Go for the one that you want the OS to be on (I recommend on the SSD).

It'll ask which directory (file) you would like to store it. and you can set it to whichever drive you wish. However, games like Skyrim that have lots of maps and mods and stuff work better installed on SSD versus on an HDD.

250GB will be enough for all that depending on how many mods you get for Skyrim and so on. You should have plenty of room for most things. However, I can't give you a solid number of how many games and applications you can put on the SSD. If you like to download movies and lots of music, that all needs to go onto the HDD so that way your not wasting space that could be allocated elsewhere on the SSD.

Yh I'll probably there most games and stuff like that on the hdd, I'm not to fussed about loading times, considering my most up to date gaming platform atm is a xbox 360, I won't mind. I prefer to use my home anyway for movies and music, so I won't need too much space
