Hello,
I have recently started having some trouble with my Acer 5349 laptop so i decided to restore my computer to factory settings after i did this however my laptop will no longer boot. It says windows is loading files, then onto the windows screen where you see the windows logo coming together then it restarts itself! just to repeat the process i have tried changing setting on the f2 and f12 options but still nothing changes. HELP

To start with, test the hard drive with the drive maker's diagnostic software for DOS which requires you to make a CD from their CD Image file, then you boot your laptop from that CD to run the hard drive test.

For all but Western Digital drives, the links to the manufacturer's CD Images are here: http://www.tacktech.com/display.cfm?ttid=287

For Western Digital, link to CD Image is here: http://www.smartestcomputing.us.com/topic/63494-looking-for-western-digital-data-lifeguard-iso/

All the CD Images are 'ISO' files and you can use "IMGBurn" to create the CD from the ISO file:

If the drive passes the test with no "fails" then you can move on to checking something else such as the RAM modules...
