Hello,
Having a hell of a hard time figuring this one out. Just got a used plasma Panasonic hdtv 42". I have a AMD Radeon HD 6800 card. The tv is hooked up with a HDMI cable into the HDMI port on my card. For some reason my picture is grainy, for sure it is not HD quality. For exsample just downloaded world of tanks. The writing in the game is so grainy (even with the graphics put up to high) that I have to strain my eyes to read it from 5 feet away. Same with in windows (7), the windows browser file text is hard to read. I have played around in the catalyst control center. Cant seem to find any settings that will help with this. Any ideas?

The resolution is set as high as my computer will let me (1920 by 1080). I do have a VGA and an adapter for my HDMI cable. I dont think there is a VGA on the tv thou. Dose VGA have HD output capabilities when going from pc VGA to HDMI tv? I will try that when I get home. As for contrast I have a played with all levels of picture adjustment on the tv. No luck with that. I hope its not just the tv's fault. Big screen is nice but being able to read the stuff on the screen is nice too. I do know the hd is working, I set up a wiiU and it was super crisp. Could it be that my video card is old and is not compatible with my tv. The tv is only a year or so old

Ok so I've tried the VGA port and no luck. I think it might just be my video card being old and stupid. Unless any one has any direction they can give me I think im SOL untill I can get a new video card.

I doubt it's the video card, it's likely the TV. Only good way to test is to try another computer or card with the TV.

If it's a 1080 resolution TV, the text should be pretty sharp, but don't expect it to be as sharp as on a monitor that is half the size but same resolution.

Play aorund with the video options on the TV, there should be some presets for the video. As I said, contrast and brightness settings have a pretty big impact on text, especially on a larger screen that spreads out the resolution over a large area.
