I bought a 3TB WD External Drive yesterday in thoughts of backing up my entire PC as well as a previous external hard drive. The drive included a WD Smartware application which I do not feel is easy or intuitive to use.

I need some information about backing up a PC such as imaging, cloning, recovery options, etc.. I prefer to have easy access to old files from the drive without any sort of software be installed prior (Such as installing a program on a new computer to recover a few files).

I have EaseUS and it is currently doing a file backup of my primary hard drives. However, it is creating a file with the format "PBD" which I am confused about. Would like some information about recovery from that format.

I would appreciate any suggestions and tips and will gladly clear anything up if needed. Thanks in advance!

PC Storage Hardware:
120GB SSD
1TB HDD

1TB External Drive
3TB External Drive (WD MyBook)

I doubt I will need to restore a whole hard drive/os. I just wanted a simple way to backup both my drives allowing me to pick off specific files/folders in case of future failure.

Also, what is the difference from a drive clone and a drive image?
