Ever since I installed my new 7870 I've been having problems up the a**. I've been playing a lot of Battlefield bad company 2, and I'll be playing then my pc will just freeze randomly and I have to force a reboot to get my pc working again, I've been having a little bit of stuttering on my monitor when watching youtube videos. Is it possible dual monitors has anything to do with this? Overheating? Driver problems? I was having driver problems like a maniac on the first day of having this card.

More about : constant freezes

That is a bad PSU. You should a have at least a decent 550w.

That is a bad PSU.

I was told by 3+ people in my GPU thread that the cx500 would do fine for a few weeks until I can get the $$$ to purchase a new psu.

yeah I agree thats a pretty crappy psu. try getting at least a 650w psu 80+ bronze psu. The cx corsair series is one of the worst corsair series. Also, your psu could be overheating and psu's degrade overtime. If you have any overclocking i'd set those parts to default speeds.

What CPU do you have?

Also, I can recommend a good PSU if you would like me to.

An i3 2130 and a 7870 shouldn't be pulling more than 250 watts combined. Even if the cx is horrible and only runs @30 of its rated 38 amps it should still be fine. It's possible it's a psu but, my max budget for a psu is 50-60$

yeah those parts shouldn't be more than 400w. While gaming, feel how hot your psu is and if its to hot to touch then that means the psu is probably overheating.

I just pulled the side off the pc and the psu is cool to the touch, ill go ahead and boot up a game and see how it is after about 5 minutes.

The PSU's don't always give out up to 500w's. I am not a troubleshooting guy, nor am I a PSU guy, but that is from what I understand.

Ok so what i've done to attempt to help with any possible overheating problems is cleaning out my whole pc(just did it 2 weeks ago, oh well), and adding an exhaust fan to my side panel to help the gpu flow out heat. I noticed that it was pumping tons of heat out of the side and that heat had to be going no where as there never was an exhaust on the side panel. I've included some pictures if you care to look on how everything is setup.

http://imgur.com/EAA9sR5,qTdJMGA,qRyIreD,qJpy3Sd,M2FMsq... There's 6 images to view near the top you can scoll thorugh them

Also in regards to the psu not putting out the rated wattage, I know it doesn't always push what it's rated at. I would hope my 2 year old cx500 can atleast push 30 amps on the 12v

I've contacted XFX and they're certain that it is a driver issue, so I'll attempt there fixes and let everybody know.

I tried XFX suggested driver reinstall, failed. Still crashing, the temps on the gpu&cpu when crashing were much less than before.
GPU: 67
Cpu: 49
I'm not sure...... I hope it's just a psu problem, thats a cheap and easy fix.

The problem was nothing hardware related 100% software related! Luckily! I had just setup a fan profile for MSI afterburner for my 7870, and after doing some digging I've found BFBC2 conflicts with MSI afterburner, so that was causing my freezes.
