Asus Radeon R9 280 v XFX Radeon R9 280

Hi all,

Basically I just want to know which card is better for gaming, an Asus AMD Radeon R9 280 DirectCU II top or an XFX Radeon R9 280 DD Black Edition? I just can't make up my mind. I have linked them below so you can have a look at the specs yourself, any help would be much appreciated.

I'd say go for xfx, they're the second best amd card manufacturer imo and their cooler is very good

I have no experience with the 280, but I have recently purchased R9 290 and done research on the manufacturers.

From what I've read about the 290, ASUS is very bad because its heat sink does not directly touch the chip. There are lots of temperature concerns with their card. Meanwhile, XFX has gotten pretty good reviews and is second best after Sapphire.

I would recommend the XFX, but do some research about the ASUS R9 280s. Maybe this version does not have the problem I described for the R9 290

All the 290 and 290X 's run rather warm (have a 290X on my Z97), the 280s aren't as bad

Thanks legend001523 and dudebob2491, I'll do a bit more research on both cards. But from what you're saying Tradesman1 the Asus R9 280 would go nicely with the Gigabyte 970A-UD3P Motherboard I'm looking at.
