I'm currently using win 7 64bit with a PowerColor AMD Radeon R7 260x gfx card. Gfx card has duel DVI hook ups.

I have a new(er) Dell 2007FP monitor hooked up via a VGA to DVI converter which works fine. The driver is "DELL 2007FP (Analog)

I am now trying to hook up my older 2001FP Dell Monitor via the 2nd DVI port for multi-monitor support. However windows is not detecting the 2nd moniter. (there does not appear to be a driver associated with it.)

When I boot up both moniter flash my BIOS screen and the loading windows display. So I know the 2nd monitor is working fine.

I have read that I might need a generic PNP driver for the 2001FP but im not sure?? Shouldn't that be auto-detected?

Any advice or suggestions??

You shouldn't need a driver for most monitors. When you first boot and/or enter BIOS, are both monitors displaying the same pic?

Yes, they both display the same boot up pic. However, the only driver i see in my device manager is the 2007FP one. Windows is not recognizing the 2nd display..?

Don't worry about a monitor driver right now. With both monitors turned on and connected, Right click on the desktop and select screen resolution and open the drop down menu for multiple displays. Does it offer more than one display? If so, click on duplicate displays and see if the 2nd monitor shows the same image.

They are both 1600x1200 resolution, right?

Yes, resolution is the same. However that option is not available in the drop down menu. I can only select the 2007fp.

Then for some reason, the 2nd monitor is not seen as connected.
Is this your card? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
If so, it only has one port (DVI-I) that offers analog (VGA). The other port is digital only (DVI-D)
Is the 2nd monitor also analog (VGA) only?

I have the 1gb version. However there are 2 dvi inputs and the 2nd monitor is connected via dvi not vga.

What happens if you disconnect the newer Dell and use the older VGA Dell only?

Very strange. There must be something odd about the Dell monitor from that era. I have been doing a little research and found others with similar problems with that particular model from 2001. For some reason (?) Dell only lists that monitor as compatible with 2000 and XP: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/Drive...
It must have been built before PnP devices were commonplace. All monitors today are plug n play and need no drivers.

You could hook both monitors back up and run this Win7 compatibility checker to see if it IDs the monitor and makes a suggestion: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id...

Do you have Win7 32 bit? You might be able to use the XP 32 bit driver.

If all else fails, it may be time to move to a newer monitor.
