best graphics card?

So I'm building my first gaming pc and after hours of research I decided to go with the i5-4690k cpu and ASUS Z97-A mobo, what gpu should I get with that? I'm getting it for cs go mainly but I might start playing other higher performance games down the road

You can buy 2x4GB RAM instead of 2x8GB to save some money

A R9 280X would be the best, it's a GTX 770 equivalent but cheaper with AMD on it.

However, can you afford a r9 290? If so then get that since it's the exact same price as GTX 770 but has gtx 780 performance.

Is there a difference in terms of performance on this specific motherboard?? I heard MSI's go well together.
