Hello and thanks for reading this.

To put it shortly, lately my GTX 770 from EVGA has been constantly derping at me whenever I try to do the most humble of tasks. It occurs the most often if I play a game - specifically something like Half-Life 2 on Steam, in which the game runs very smoothly at times, and then just freezes constantly with a repeating loop of sound.

It also happens the most if I do something like change the game settings, or load from a game or autosave. And if I exit out of the screen but not the game and return to Half-Life 2, it'll freeze and loop playing sounds if not outright force me to restart the computer.

Obviously I've tried to use the driver that came with the installation disk that came with the GTX 770, but so far it's done very little if at all in the field of stability compared to the latest 340.xx drivers.

If someone had a similar problem (various games constantly freeze, and often loop sound effects that played immediately prior to the game freezing) and they found a certain driver version that solved it, please let me know. Thank you.

The card is also factory overclocked, by the way. Would downclocking it possibly remedy this problem as well?

I would uninstall the driver as shown in the drivers foot notes shut down - remove the card and reseat it back in the slot hook it back up go to desktop and install the driver from the link I gave that you downloaded to a file as shown in the footnotes of the driver install steps and see if it does better for you
