I was reading a article on ram and i found out that they said that the cpu is actually waiting on the ram since the ram is slower. I thought ram was one of the fastest things in a build.

More about : cpu faster ram

That's not the complete story, but yes, sometimes, the CPU has to wait for data to be transferred from ram into the CPU's internal Cache (which is orders of magnitude faster then RAM). Then the CPU uses the data from its own cache.

Modern cpus have algorithms that predict the next piece of data that's likely to be used, and they are loaded in the cache before the CPU needs it, so that helps with that issue.

An engine(CPU) always has to wait for gas(data) from the fuel pump/gas tank(RAM/HDD).

Cache is fast. I don't know what is under her hood, but she always races for pinks and rarely loses. =)
