Hey all. Trying to clean install Windows 7 on an Alienware running XP but can't get the system to boot off of optical drive. When asked if I want to boot from cd drive I try pressing any key, but nothing happens and xp reboots. I've tried a ps2 keyboard as well, thinking that my USB keyboard wasn't working, but that didn't work either. I can use either keyboard (ps2 or USB) in the bios. Also, if I put the xp boot disk in the drive I can get that to boot after pressing on the keyboard. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, I know this may be farfetched, but is your Windows 7 disk an actual OS you purchased new or something you got as a "trial," because if the disk is damaged or scratched it may show as an option to boot from so that you can "press any key;" however, it might not work when you actually execute the process.

Just throwing an idea to check.
