I purchased a computer and want to set up internet service. I am online a great deal daily. I have no phone line and do not know what type of service i need to be looking for. Cable, satellite, broadband? Aside from the monthly charge is their any charge for equiptment.

Solution
Generally, in order of preference:
Fiber Optic (Verizon FiOS, Google)
Cable (Cox, Comcast, TW, etc)
DSL
Satellite
Dialup.

Not all of these are available at every residence. For instance - Verizon FiOS. Available at my house, but not at the complex around the corner.

You need to find out what is available at your residence.

It depends on where you live for one thing. Different countries and states and cities can have different Internet speeds.

It sounds like this is your very first computer, so what you need to do is find an Internet Service Provider. Some common ones in the U.S. are:
-Verizon FIOS
-AT&T Uverse
-Comcast
-Time Warner Cable

Having Internet service will result in a monthly fee depending on the speeds you choose for your Internet. I would look one of these companies up in your phone book and call them and ask. A technician can set up everything for you, cable, modem, and router.

Look for broadband, as DSL (phone line) is so slow and outdated.
