Hello! I will be getting the Logitech G502 Gaming Mouse soon and I thought I might as well buy a nice mouse pad aswell. The 2 mouse pads I'm interested in currently is the Logitech G240 (Cloth) and the G440 (Hard surface). I will be playing FPS mostly and I use a desktop if that helps. So I will not be needing to move my mouse pad alot. I will also probably will be gaming with 1800DPI mostly . I'm mainly worried about fraying issue with the G240 cloth. Any advice is appreciated! :)

i tried out the g502 proteus core for about a week.

good button placement compared to other mice. decent shape too.

i would like to note that i found the mouse just a bit narrow for my medium sized hands and bottom-side grip half-palm sort of grip style. my ring and pinky finger curled under a bit when gripping in this way which was uncomfortable. otherwise, great mouse.

about fraying... i think the razer goliathus pads have edge stitching around them to prevent fraying.

i personally used a cloth mousepad (click build in my signature for photo of my pad) and it worked well.

i normally advise against hard pads because some brands/designs can actually be a bit abrasive and wear the teflon feet of your pad faster than they would wear on a cloth pad. they can also be a bit expensive depending on what you buy and not really worth the money.

One other thing I'm worried about is how well the G502 would respond on each type of mouse pad. I don't know if it does well on hard mat or a soft one. Also, would you think that the G502 would be suitable for a claw grip? Seems like it should be.

as i said, i used it on a cloth mousepad and it performed very well. the teflon feet were great and very slick too which made it glide well too. cant say about hard mats since i refuse to use them for a few reasons.

you could probably claw grip the proteus. i palm grip so i cannot say for a fact though.

I see. I have the Razer 2013 Deathadder currently and it's fine for claw grip, however, for the same price the G502 offers more functions and better build quality.

my preferred mouse is also the deathadder.

the g502 feels narrower than the deathadder which is why i personally couldnt use it and ended up returning it. the deathadder is the perfect width for me. not sure about you.

the deathadder also typically costs less at $50-60 while the proteus is about $80 right now so its a bit more expensive generally.

it does have more buttons and build quality was good

Hmmm. I got the DeathAdder for $80 here in Canada. Same price as the G502. I really liked the way I could hold the DeathAdder though, yeah. I shall give the G502 a try aswell and see if I can get used to the width. I have used a Razer Lachesis before (Loved the design) and it was narrow aswell so we'll see.
