I've been scouring the Internet for days, yet I've found nothing to solve my problem here.
Here's the situation. I built my PC back in June 2013 and it was a joy to use it. Startups were swift and quick, general usages were smooth and uneventful, basically zero problems. Then, 2 weeks ago, Microsoft rolled out a batch of faulty updates which caused BSODs on my PC. At the time I didn't know the source of the problem, so I went ahead and gave it a reinstall of Windows. Unfortunately, after reinstalling I let Windows Update on autopilot and it once again downloaded the same faulty batch of updates and again caused BSODs on my system. I did a bunch of system restores before identifying the culprits; since then I removed the updates and my PC is now BSOD free.
However, right now I've got a new problem. Whenever the system boots/reboots, a black screen with a movable cursor always appear for a good 30 seconds before prompting me with the password. I've noticed that during this 30 seconds of black screen, the hard drive activity LED didn't light up or whatsoever. The same thing occurs in safe mode; after loading all the drivers the black screen with the cursor appears before prompting me for the password. I've uninstalled the Nvidia driver just to see if that makes any differences, but no it didn't.
And after waiting 30 seconds of the black screen, the system runs fine and quick, no slowdowns or whatsoever. Any help or suggestions are definitely appreciated.Thanks in advance.
