Wireless internet connection problem with laptop

Hi, I can't seem to connect to my router wirelessly through my laptop. I get the same message "Make sure the network settings match the wireless router settings". My laptop is Packard Bell, Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit and my router is cisco linksys X3500. I used to be able to connect to the router but now I can't, at all. I restarted the router several times over the past few days, and restarted my laptop as well. I just removed my network from the "Manage wireless networks" list then added it again, now the message I get is "Problem with wireless adapter or access point." What should I do?
