Hello,

I have an Intel i7 4790k andI installed my Corsair H100i CPU cooler with stock paste on it and I would be at 40 degrees C idling, but when I'd stress test it, my temps would get to 100 degrees C and stay around 98 degrees C - 100 degrees C. I knew this was not a good thing and bought Arctic Silver 5 and applied it the first time and the temps were almost the same even reaching the same 100 degrees C while stress testing. I applied it again a few days later and have had it on for about 2 weeks now and it idles at 34-36 degrees C which is an improvement from the 40 degrees idling I had before, but while stress testing I still reached 98 Degrees C but I never reached 100 degrees C, which is an improvement but I would like to not reach 85 degrees C while stress testing.

Any suggestions?!
Thanks!

I don't know my exact room temp, I know it gets pretty hot of a day and I know this plays a role in the temp. I have a Corsair Obsidian 450D case and my radiator is pulling air into the case. All of the fans are stock fans. I have 2 fans pulling air in the front of the case as well as my 2 radiator fans from the top and 1 exhaust fan on the back of the case.

Place your fans so they exhaust the heat from your rad outside the top of the case, your putting your cpuss heat into the case and fighting the natural flow of air.

How can I tell if I have faulty sensors?

Radiator should be blowing out of the case, should it not?
Also, is there not a bug with certain temp. monitoring programs and certain cpu's that give incorrect readings?
Someone more knowledgeable than me needs more info on your set up to be able to diagnose this accurately.
But that sounds WAY too hot for almost any cpu in any possible overclock you can get it to boot on for more than a few seconds.
Especially with a H100i.

Sadly, U cant tell if u have a faulty sensor. Unless u put a thermometer on the cpu(which is impossible.)
But bios temp are the most accurate. Thats for sure. Compare bios temp with software temps.
Since u have a h100i, im sure there is a option to monitor liquid temperature. Compare that with ur cpu temps. There should be around 20-25 degree difference.
