Hi all,

I built new rig on newegg and i was having trouble with BSODs when playing Dota2 and videos on the internet. Then i tried Memtest86+ 5.01 to test if there is any errors on memory modules. There are 4 modules of RAM and their serial numbers end with "3,4,5,6" respectively. Asus Sabertooth 79 has 8 memory slots and suggests D1 slot if there will be used one memory module.

On D1 Slot, if i set default settings on mobo, all modules passes individually on one pass. If i set xmp profile #1 only module-4 and module-6 passes, there are several errors on module-3 and module-5.

I changed to C1 slot to test if there is an issue with D1 slot but results are the same with the ones with D1 slot.

Interesting part is, i thought that module-4 and module-6 are good and module-3 and module-5 were faulty ones, I tried all modules on A1,B1,C1,D1 and xmp profile#1 is set and test overnight, there were no errors on 4 passes.

Yet again, I tried module-4 and module-6 on B1,D1, Memtest86+ 5.01 failed on defualt settings and xmp profile#1.

I can run my rig on stable with defult settings and module-4 is at D1. I did not test other combinations to run Windows 8.1.

What should i do?

My rig is:

Very strange, do you have the latest BIOS?

If not all modules pass in D1 with XMP enabled, I would have to say exchange them for a new kit first to see if that solves the issue. Each stick should pass without a problem in the initial slot. The tests with multiple sticks are irrelevant because memtest86+ should only be ran with one module installed at a time.

Yes i have installed latest BIOS which is 4701. I tested with Corsair Vengence Pro CMY16GX3M2A2133C11 and all passed invidually and dually. So I take it it is a ram issue with Gskill. I purchased it from newegg. Can i RMA them?
