Hey!
I have a problem here with my pc.
A week ago it started randomly freezing while playing graphics intensive games, the screen just freezes, and i hear a loud buzz from the speakers until i force restart.

Comp is not overheating, did virus scan, even reinstalled windows, but now i can't even install graphics driver, because the pc freezes at the middle of the installation.

I suspect the video card is dying, but I'd like to hear opinions.

[My PC: P4 3.0 GHz,Nvidia 9400 GT 1GB low profile,2GB RAM with Win 7 Ultimate//i know it's an old one,I'm trying to get something new,but still it's annoying(And hell what it served me really well with playing games like Bioshock infinite and MGR:Revengeance)]

Solution
This definitely sounds like a problem with an overtaxed GPU. The 9400GT is an underpowered card for these games and may be able to run them at low or maybe medium settings but its also possible that with the age of the card the Thermal Compound used between the chip and the heatsink is worn out and dried up. If thats the case the card is overheating and triggering the freeze in which case you may be able to remove the heatsink and replace the thermal compound but only if you are comfortable doing so as it may damage the card further.

Well i played many games on it,some ran really well(~30 fps,yep thats enough for me) like DmC/MGR:Revengeance/Bioshock Infinite/Mass Effect 3.
And i didn't have any problems with it playing,55-58 °C,sometimes it went 62-3° in the summer.

But it's like 5 years old now,so i think it did a good job.

I am having the exact same issue as you. I have a GTX 660ti and my pc crashes with a random coloured screen with loud buzzing noises. I also think its my GPU as I bought and installed a new PSU yesterday but still crashing. If you find out the issue let me know, thanks!

You should not have a problem in most games at medium to high settings with a 660ti. What are the temps on your card like? And can you post the rest of your specs?

It's a low profile card with thermal "stickers",but anyway thanks for the response,I'll go with the aging.
