Greetings People of the Sun!

So i have been faced with a rather major dilemma...i went to go and plug my external hard drive into my computer, the hard drive inside was booting but it would not allow me to access the files on my computer. What's stranger is that i went to disk management it shows up and it recognizes it as being online as well as being formatted to NTFS.

On TOP of that, in my naivety i tried to find a solution online that told me to uninstall my USB controllers, restart the machine and 'allow' the system to 'automatically' re install the controllers....now i only have one USB port working out of 4 initial USB Ports and two external hard drives that are apparently working but not showing up when i plug them into my computer......

Also worth mentioning in the device manager my Intel WiUSB USB-IF xHCI USB Host Controller is showing and exclamation mark on the icon and in Properties - Device Status it says "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device".
Further down the device manager in 'Other Devices' there is an 'Unknown Device' present with an exclamation mark on the icon and in the Properties it says that drivers are not installed.

The computer is an HP Envy m6 Laptop with a Core-I7 cpu with 8gb RAM and a 64 bit version of Windows 8.1. Please get back to me ASAP.
