Hello, Just yesterday I was updating my pc with a new CPU and Motherboard. I've installed everything within the case, cables, cpu, ram, liquid cooler. But the only problem is that I've installed my 16gb ram and only 12gb is showing within the BIOS & Computer Properties. I've also done some tests on the ram one by one to see if it's due to a ram stick but that's not the case all ram sticks work on all the dimm slots. I've done some research but I've not found a solution to the problem. Is there anything else I could have a go at to get my pc to recognize all my ram?

Specifications:
CPU: I7 4930k
MOBO: Asus Rampage IV Black Edition
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB

Do you have 4 sticks of 4gb? One of the sticks isent working make sure all the sticks are in the slot all the way if they are you could have a defective stick.

Yes but I've checked them all and they all work. I've also quickly taken out the CPU and cooler to check if the pins are bent but they're fine, the cpu cooler is looser so it's not so tight as it was on the cpu. I took out all the ram and inserted them back into the dimm slots and they clicked in fine.

Once I done that I rebooted again went straight to the bios before windows loaded up, and it said 16gb ram but the problem is when windows loaded again it went straight back to 12gb again. Which I totally don't understand cpu-z shown it was quad channel 16gb but if I was to restart the pc the bios and cpu-z would show 12gb.

I've also check CPU-z on both 'Memory' and 'SPD' tabs. Within the memory is what get's me confused windows and the bios is recognizing my ram as 12gb but cpu-z is saying 16gb with triple channels even though I've got quad channels installed. But if I go towards the SPD tab it shows all the ram on 1,2,3,4 slots.

I just want to also point out this is the RAM I'm using now, 'Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 Mhz CL9 XMP Performance Desktop Memory Kit Black' but two of the same so 4 RAM cards in total making 16GB. Sadly I've noticed it's not on the QVL page would this be the problem? http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA2011/RAMPAGE_IV_...

EDIT: Or could it be the BIOS version?

Either your system is using 1GB from each stick of RAM for shared graphics memory, one stick isn't fully seated, or a fualty slot (try booting with one stick in each slot, one at a time).

Try raising DRAM voltage + 0.05 and the VCCSA voltage about the same
