New GPU - crashing comp

Hello :)

I recently switched up my gtx570 for a HD7970.

Uninstalled Nvidia drivers. Installed the appropriate drivers for 7970. Everything OK.

Only whenever there is any semi GPU intensive stuff on (BF4, far cry 3, even half life 2 etc) it shuts the computer down and the screen goes black. It definitely depends on the demands made on it - for older games and just using Windows, there is zero problems.

I have a 700W PSU ( Corsair Gaming Series GS700 )and from measuring temps - it seems to shut down when around 75'C.

I think this could be an issue with the card - and will ask for a replacement. But before then I thought I would ask and see if there is a possible fix.

Phenom ii x4 970 Black Edition
AsRock 870 Extreme3 R2.0
2 x SSD
1 x HDD
Windows 7 64bit

Thanks!

I would backup whatever files you need and then reload windows back on. Could be a registry file or other file type from the old card causing compatibility issues with the new one.
