I just got an internal WD hard drive. I connected it in the place of my old hard drive and turned on the computer.
It doesn't detect the hard drive in bios or on my windows installation setup.
I tried to connect both my old hard drive and my new one.. Windows booted and the new hard drive is still not detected. Also I tried different SATA still not detected.

When I turn the PC on, the Hard drive spins about 3 seconds then stops... no strange noise or anything just a normal hard drive sound.
What should I do to fix this? Did my Hard drive die while shipping?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance...

Solution
Hi

It looks like the drive is doa and needs returning to supplier

If you have access to a USB to sata adapter or tray or another PC or a laptop with esata give it another try first

Yes, it was connected on same cable as old hard drive. and also I tried with another cable and the CD-Rom cable.
I just bought my motherboard 3 months ago so it is not old. and my new hard drive is 500gb :)
