Hello people

After being recently surprised at the cost of 1TB Samsung Evo SSDs I am contemplating buying one and moving my existing steamapps folder and assorted games from my WD 1TB drive and one to this new beast SSD.

Ok, so so far so good. Capacities match. OS and everyday apps run on a 120GB Samsung SSD, so I won't be migrating the OS or doing anything besides moving the whole contents of my E drive (about 600GB) from one to another.

Can anyone help me do this with the minimum of grief please?

My thoughts so far:

Install the new drive in any available SATA port on MB (probably using the fastest one for the job I have a Sabertooth X79).

Boot into Windows 7 OS, which should find the drive no problems as existing driver for 120GB SSD is already up and running?

Load up samsung magician. Clone drive E to drive F? (any rough guesses as to how long this will take BTW?)

Power down and remove E drive completely (maybe reinstall at a later date etc)

Boot, rename new drive as E, and point steam at it along with other games.

Job done, no problems.

Does this sound reasonable or am I going about it completely the wrong way?

Thanks in advance for any and all help on this.

Ollie
