I put together a great rig. (i5 3570k OCd to 4.4Ghz on a Z77 Chip and a GTX 760 2GB card.) (Soon to be SLI)

The only area I suffered was in RAM, Only 4GB. So recently I upgraded.

What I had before was my Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 1x4 GB Stick

What I bought to add on to it was a 4GB Stick of G Skill Ripjaws series DDR3-1333 RAM

I've read around a bit and see there's a small performance change between DDR3-1600 and DDR3-1333 and with my corsair ram used in conjunction with my new ripjaws. It underclocks my Vengeance RAM.

So question is which is better, 8GB of DDR3-1333? Or 4GB of DDR3-1600. I can't decide which way to go.

you should get 2 sticks of the same RAM, of the same type/manufacturer, that's always better

Using sticks from 2 different model is never recommended, let alone different manufacturers, and yours is different MHz too! I just hope now that you don't suffer from the weird RAM issue which occur when we pair different RAMs.
Its a wonder how you even thought of going aside from Corsair when you have one in your build.
Anyways, if RAM issues don't eat your PC, then 8GBH 1333MHz is better than 4GB 1600MHz for most current games.

You'll see more benefit than liability from running the 8GB of 1333. Why not use your favorite benchmarks with the sticks set each way and see if there's a noticeable difference? Go with whichever configuration gets the most attractive results.

As long as the sticks are stable together, better off w/ 8GB of DRAM than 4, there may be a slight performance hit, but the additional DRAM should more than make up for it

I ended up returning the Ripjaws RAM for another 4GB stick of the Corsair Vengeance 1600. So now it's 8GB DDR3-1600. (Both Corsair Vengeance) Perfect. :)
