I whant to buy a new CPU but i don't know whitch is better

My old one a Q6600
I know that the Q9550 has more mb crach but more i not know actuly
so my question

What Better a Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 or a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550

How much better those chips would be than a q6600 is irrelevant and couldn't possibly be worth the money. CPUs have come so far since then you would be better off buying a dirt cheap new PC with an AMD or Corei3 cpu.

The core 2 extreme sells for like $1500 BTW.

I just have buyd a pc for 175 dollar whit a Q6600
and i can choose whitch i whant a Q9550 or QX6850
i can get them very cheap so the price is not the problem
i only need to know whitch is better for high quality and performance
for gaming and 3D programs and editing

I see, sorry I made a bad assumption. These chips are rather old and my memory is fuzzy but having read through a few comparison threads I vote for the 9550. It was a newer generation chip and very well liked by enthusiasts. But if you plan to seriously overclock then maybe consider the 6850 which was known to overclock very high and I think had an unlocked multiplier - but I must admit I'm probably fuzzy on the nuances between them. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/256310-31-intel-q9550-qx6850

yea i gona overclock but if i need a better cooling mybe a good 775 socket watercooling :/
