2x4gb DIMMs - Only 2x2gb Detected

I used to have 8GB RAM working fine. I just noticed that only 4GB of that is now detected. After flashing my bios and multiple re-seating of the DIMMs and running memory tests, it's still not working.

One thing i have eliminated though, both DIMMs are working the same. If I remove one of them and boot up i get just 2GB RAM. I have tested this on both DIMMs.

Does any know why the RAM on each DIMM would be halved?

- ASUS P8P67 EVO
- Intel CORE i5 3.3ghz
- AMD Radeon 6800
- HyperX Blu Series 1600 MHz DDR3 CL9 DIMM Gaming Memory Kit (2 x 4 GB)
- Win7 (64bit)

Thanks

Tested one on its own, gave it an hour's test. Nothing showing, still only half the RAM it should have available.

I think the model number is the same for the 2,4 and 8 GB dimms.

This is the item in my order history. It has ###/4gb on the chips. It would have been the first thing I would have verified when installing. I am still certain i have got a faulty something.

CPUz shows 2gb for each channel.

One thing that did show up of potential interest. The RAM frequency is only 686 mhz. Should be 1600Mhz. I have manually configured the bios setting to clock the RAM at 1600 anyway just to see if that was the problem.

686 x 2 = 1372 that is the frequency memory run to , then this look like you have 2 gig ram module and the the one you bought .

This is from the email in my inbox with the confirmation
Delivery estimate: 26 July 2013 - 30 July 2013
2 "Kingston 1600MHz DDR3 Non ECC CL9 8GB Kit (2x 4GB) HyperX BLU XMP DIMM Memory Module"
Personal Computers; £53.00

I know the DIMMs are 4GB each, it used to work fine with 8GB in full use. My rig is now bricking itself on games it used to run without issue.
