Basically I'm buying a mid ranged gaming laptop. I'll be using it mainly for gaming. off course other softwares as well, like adobe aftereffects, 3ds max (student) etc. But please tell me which of these laptops will be the best for gaming. my budget is strictly 1000$ or less. i'm ordering from Xotic PC, because i can't find any other trusted custom pc site that ships to saudi arabia (if you know any, please tell me).

and yeah, i'm not at all interested in nvidia's physx. And amd r9 m290x supports AMD mantle (games with mantle API will be able to "unleash the maximum performance and superior image quality" that's what the site said :/) . will that be of any use?

MSI GX60 Destroyer-280: GPU: R9 M290X
CPU: AMD A10-5750M
cost: 1066$ (just fit)

SAGER NP7358: GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 860M
CPU: Intel Core i7-4710MQ
cost: 1040$

Which laptop is better?

Now i'm well aware that the r9 M290X beats the GTX860M (obviously because it's much more expensive), but i posted this question because i'm getting the r9 at a good price just paired with a slightly less powerful cpu. So, should i go for the better gpu? will the less powerful cpu make gaming experience bad? I'm getting both of 'em for 1050$. or is there any other laptop? ps i can't spend a 100$ extra since i'm very tight on budget.

Solution
I'm looking for more benchmarks, but I recommend the INTEL/NVidia combination.

AMD CPU's are known to cause bottlenecks, and they also run a lot hotter as do their GPU's. Thus I would expect the AMD rig to be much noisier.

You need to be careful analyzing benchmarks to have enough games as some aren't CPU limited and others are severely (i.e. 40% frame rate difference often with Intel vs AMD for Skyrim).

*The weaker AMD CPU can also cause stuttering due to the LOWEST frame rate being lower than Intel's even if it can manage a similar AVERAGE frame rate for the game.

It's also very difficult to find accurate benchmarks unless the R9-290X (rebadged HD8970M) and GTX860M are compared using the same CPU. Some scores might show the AMD...

It's also very difficult to find accurate benchmarks unless the R9-290X (rebadged HD8970M) and GTX860M are compared using the same CPU. Some scores might show the AMD GPU with an Intel CPU and again when paired with AMD's CPU there will be bottlenecking in many games.

There is a big difference (40%?) in theory on the GPU alone but I'm not convinced the total package of the AMD setup is a better deal (weaker CPU, probably louder and/or heavier).

Summary:
Tough decision, and I just don't have enough information but based on my PC building experience I have to lean towards the better CPU weaker GPU combo.

*MANTLE:
It's unlikely that Mantle will make a huge impact. The largest issue it has is that NVidia isn't supported thus game developers would have to use both DX11 (or DX12) as well as Mantle. Since DX11/12 works on AMD and NVidia it's a lot of work that doesn't really benefit the game developers.

There ARE games currently in development but even those may convert to DX12. One of the biggest advantages is to reduce CPU processing requirements though if you have a good Intel CPU already then that's less of an issue thus Mantle is compensating more for the weaker AMD CPU.

Solution
the stronger cpu will help you with your 3d editing/rendering while the gpu isnt shabby in gaming performance. the amd build with the stronger gpu but weaker cpu will create a bottleneck and will be much hotter and have higher power consumption.

Well my current laptop with i5 cpu and an amd hd 7670 used to handle 3d editing pretty good.... so i thought editing won't be a problem with either options. So the amd built is not going to give better gaming performance?

well then LENOVO Y510p offered i7 4700mq with 2x nvidia GT750M in sli, is that going to be any better?

well two 750m in sli probably will have a little more/same performance as one 860m.
