Male dvi-a to female dvi-i

My new gpu has dvi-i and my monitor has vga. So I found a cable where one end is a male vga and other end is dvi-a.
My question to you is will a male dvi-a fit into female dvi-i and will this all work together? Thanks for all of your answers!

Yes it will fit.

DVI-I combines DVI-A with either Single Link DVI-D or Dual Link DVI-D.

A Dual-Link DVI-I port (almost all graphics cards have one) can be passively converted to any of the following:

VGA
HDMI
Single-Link DVI-D
Dual-Link DVI-D
