So I moved my PC into another room and upon rewiring all of the peripherals the PC will not boot with no signs of life other than the lights in the keyboard and mouse which are USB.

I took a good look to make sure that nothing obvious was disconnected during the gentle moving of the case itself but I cant find anything suspicious and thus I ask TOMs users for some guidance.

I also tried using a different PSU cable and that did not work

i5 4690k
z97 extreme 4 mobo
seasonic G series modular PSU of appropriate wattage
r9290

New symptom : after doing a test with the paperclip the powersupply seems to work fine my pc even started after the 24 pin cable had been re-seated on the motherboard, but did not power on a second time after unplugging and moving the pc off of my desk.

So I checked the motherboard for anything in particular that could be causing it to short and to be honest I didnt see anything obvious, Im trying to delay taking her apart and reassembling so any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Double check your Big power connector and your small (8pin? i can't recall exactly) connector. Is your fans spinning at all? Does it boot into the bios at all?
Unplug the PSU and re-plug it, if it boots go into the bios and reset to default settings. Are you running a surge bar or directly to wall?

i have double checked both
fan spins when performing the paperclip test and spun when the computer did start shortly after the 24 pin test the fans do not spin currently while the computer fails to start

it does not boot into bios

I have tried unplugging the psu already many times no results

I have tried using a surge bar and plugging into the wall

:( I also cant really find anything online

The motherboard is in contact with the GPU. If you thumped the case with the cpu cooler attached or the gpu not secure, these could damage your mobo.

If wires aren't loose, you've damaged something. That checklist gets you to check most things. All that's left is your mobo and cpu. I nevers heard of a cpu giving up the ghost. So it's probably your mobo.

I really didnt thump the case at all while i was moving it, I'll do the reassembly today and see how it goes.

So I took a fresh look at my pc today and managed to get it to boot up (by swapping outlets and replugging the psu a couple of random times) which allowed me to read the motherboard's self diagnosis codes for z97 extreme 4 it shows 4F then 96 then 99 then A2. After booting there is no signal to the monitor now.

according to the manual
4F = not listed
96 = PCI-E Devices
99 = PCI-E Devices
A2 = IDE or SATA devices

so im going to re-install all of my drives and my GPU to see what happens, any other advice or insight?
