Hi All,

Need help I've noticed that my connection is open to the public.

I have a password to the main router. But I have a N+ usb router that connects to it and that's fine.

But people can enter the network through my usb router, How do I create a password or stop people from connecting? I didn't notice until lastnight when I had friends over, ive had the computer for a couple days.

Anyways anyone know how to set itup?

Belkin usb.

What brand is the router? Each brand has different settings software.

Plug your pc into the router using cable and if you have the instructions it will give you an IP address to type in like 192.168.1.1 and then a standard password. After that you will enter the belkin router screen, there is a spot to setup a password to keep people out.

Type 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.1 (might be either) into your browser URL bar. There should be a category called wireless settings or something similar. Change the security type to WPA2 and then under "passphrase" enter what you would like the password to be. Click apply to keep the changes. All your devices will be disconnected from the network. Connect to the network and put in the password. Hope this helps :)

EDIT: Sometimes to access the router settings, you might have to put in a username/password. The default is
Username: admin
Password: password

Find or Change Your Internet Security Passphrase

1) Open the web browser that you use: Firefox,Google Chrome,IE,or Opera and type in the IP address for your router, and press the Enter key.
http://www.routeripaddress.com/ < Router ip addresses can be found here

2) A window will open and then type in your routers default username and password, and press the Enter key again

http://www.routerpasswords.com/ < Router usernames and passwords found here

3) Navigate to the Wireless Security\Network Security Settings Tab and open it to locate or change your WEP or WPA Security Passphrase.
Use WPA because it provides better security.

4) Write this Security Passphrase down and put it in a safe place to access when needed.

5) Save settings and close your browser.
