He doesn't "NEED" it, but if he finds that in the future he wants faster editing but doesn't want to have to pay another $300 for an I7 5970K Broadwell then he can just buy a 212 evo or a corsair H80 or something and raise it to 4.6ghz which would give a decent but not huge increase in editing and recording times vs stock 4.0, as well as help him with overall load times, gaming, application funtions etc..
