Hi everyone. I want to set up a second monitor running from the tri-x r9 290.
My graphics card has- 1 x HDMI (with 3D)
1 x DisplayPort 1.2
2 x Dual-Link DVI-D

My second monitor has both hdmi and vga connections. I tired using a cable with a dvi connection on one side and a vga on the other and it didn't work. Is it possible to use the Display Port from the Graphics card to a HDMI or VGA on the second monitor? Thanks

You will need to use a Display Port to HDMI adapter for that since Display Port's are not HDMI compatible, since both of them has different ends.

If you have already added your 1st monitor to your HDMI, then go for a DVI to HDMI adapter/converter for you other Monitor.

I've heard that DVI to HDMI will not work properly. From what I read I'll need to go for the adapter as you say on the Display Port

That Display Port adapter should definitely work.

If you have two monitor. Maybe you need an hdmi splitter to distribute them. If you believe me . You can have a try !
