I'm confused.
You have your network cable UNPLUGGED?

If so, why would you expect to get a network connection?

Basic troubleshooting:
1) See if another computer works when connected to the same ETHERNET cable. If so, the issue is only with your computer. Then,

2) Plug the ethernet cable into your computer and start it.

3) If it still fails, try reinstalling the driver (get from a different PC that works via USB thumb drive). I'd also reinstall the motherboard MAIN CHIPSET driver as well.

The default settings should work.

Plug the cable back in and reset the device back to default.

It doesn't look for tcp/ip. Windows uses Connect to a Network.
