Okay, so I got all of the components of my PC in the mail the other day. I put everything together and have trouble shooted with Toms hardware guide. I simply have no idea what could be wrong.

When I press the power button nothing happens unless I press it repeatedly, and the only thing that does happen the leds come on and fans spin. I tested to make sure it was not a bad power switch and short started it with a screwdriver again I have to touch it repeatedly to get it to power on. Still I have no post no nothing just spinning fans and leds. I tested out two gpus, tested the power supply, checked the ram in different dimm slots. Still nothing at all. I'm guessing it is probably just dead because it seems to be some sort of power issue with the mobo.
Could it be shorting out somewhere since only sometimes it powers on?

Specs are
Asus P6T Mobo
Radeon R7 260x Double dissipation 2GB
4GB Crucial Ballistics 1600mhz DDR3
Intel Core i7 950 3.06
Kentek 700Watt PSU( I know garbage of a PSU, it was cheap)

Solution

Well I already had the motherboard on hand that's why I purchased the i7 950 I didn't have the money to buy another motherboard so I purchased stuff that would fit my current one. I currently have the kentek psu in another pc that I'm posting on right now and it is working fine so I do know that the psu is not the issue.

Ended up being a standoff shorting the mobo somehow.. very weird situation. Even though it is triple channel one stick of ram will still run it will just run as single channel.

3.Did you install the standoffs under the motherboard? Did you place them so they all align with the screw holes in the motherboard, with no extra standoffs touching the board in the wrong place? A standoff installed in the wrong place can cause a short and prevent the system from booting.

i'm a Seasonic fanboy and Corsair has a few Seasonics branded.

plus i'm still using i7-950. and will continue to use it for at least two years. With GTX760-SLI vid cards currently, my i7-950 PC still ROCKS. with GTX8xx next year it will be more awesome! :)
