so a few years a go i was going to a pc build and bought saberthtooth x58, corsair ram 4GB x2 and was I going to get intel i7-950 Quad-Core Processor 3.06 GHz, 8MB Cache, Socket 1366 for £224.99 and wasn't sure about about graphics card. but I have been given some advice from here, that the money i'm going to spend is not worth it and might as well get start again and get:
CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor (£239.94 @ Aria PC)
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
(£22.63@Ebuyer)
Motherboard: Asus SABERTOOTH Z97 MARK2 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£119.96 @ Scan.co.uk)
Memory: G.Skill TridentX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory (£138.22 @ Ebuyer)
Total: £520.75

so what is opinion on this please? i willing to spend around £500 -800 on gaming p.c and the same if I upgrade my old stuff, thanks.

For this to be a gaming PC, as the title says, you have to put some kind of graphics card in it.
You stated that you have about 280 pounds spare. For that, you can probably afford a nice R9 280X.

If this is what you have right now would i just overclock the .... out of that cpu and get a nice gpu with it.You could upgrade the ram with a new 2x4gb set just not to have to mix ram.

I'm sorry,read over the 4x2 bit.You wouldn't beed other ram at all.

Umm, he says he'll buy 16 gigs of RAM. That's gonna last .... forever. Just a good GPU and rock on.

Yes,but he's already got 8gb's so really no need for upgrading fo just gaming. He could even just transfer that ram to his new rig since the old already uses ddr3 ram.

I already think he's still got a very decent cpu when he wants to overclock and seeing that he's going for the 4790K he seems to have that intention anyway.

This is just my opinion though,if the op wants a new system fine too.He could do with a 4690K for just gaming to save some money.
