Hi, I have been looking for a cpu for a while now and I thought I had my heart set on i5 3570, now I'm not too sure. I found an Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3 for about the same price and I have no need for an igpu and I am too scared that I will break something to overclock. It will be used for gaming with a r9 270 (bf4,dayz, some other not as intensive games), rendering, and streaming. Is there a noticeable difference between the i5 and Xeon? If so, by how much? And is there a way to turn off hyperthreading? I heard its worse for some games.

See you will be rendering so the i5 is definitely out if you can afford a Xeon. So why I say get a Xeon, it is like an i7 with hyper threads. So this will be perfect for rendering or editing.

I don't think there is a way to turn it off. But if you are looking for games and rendering, try i7.

The Xeon 1230v3 is same as i7-4770, lga 1150. The Xeon 1230v2 is same as i7-3770, lga 1155, which is the socket for i5-3570.
