Hey,
im new to the forums and the reason i'm posting is because my computer
shuts down randomly
I googled for answers and found that it could be a PSU issue but i tried methods like the paper clip and voltage meter and the PSU is fine.

Here are my specs:
MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+
CPU: AMD FX-8350 Black Edition Vishera 8-Core 4.0GHz
GPU: XFX Radeon r9 270x
PSU: Thermaltake 600w Powersupply
Ram: HyperX Fury Black Series 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600

I took out the GPU and PSU from my old Prebuilt HP Pavilion. they did not come with the computer (obviously) i upgraded them on my HP but since i was limited on upgradeing my HP i decided to take those parts out and put it into my Custom built.
Let me know what the issue can be ASAP

Good for you. Though that probably means that the issue was actually overheating and given that the new cooler helped only a bit and only with extra fan you reached stability, chances are high that you (or the motherboard) have set unnecessary high voltage on the cpu, so that it produces loads of unnecessary heat. I'd suggest trying to lower the cpu voltage to avoid the problems returning in the future, when dust gets in your cooler or it gets warmer outside. If that won't help, chances are that your motherboard is overheating and that could be maybe also helped by proper settings.
Btw 59 Fahrenheit is 15°C; that reading doesn't really say much. However, these amd cpus are known to report nonsense values when their temperature is below...
Just because it passes the paper clip test doesn't mean is not the cause. We know it powers on but that's only half the battle. Are these random shutdowns when the computer is under significant load? Or is it when sitting idle?

The former sounds like psu and the latter sound like RAM. But RAM usually gets a blue screen and PSU usually doesnt..

yah i haven't gotten Blue screen but show how i was playing BF4 and my computer did not shut off i managed to lower the performance on my CPU and no shut downs... YET. So im going to try and bring the performance back up if it does shut down is it a possibility its the psu not giving enough Wattage to everything that is beining powered?

So i went to the AMD Catalyst control center and bumped from 3.4 Ghz to 4.0. The computer infact shutoff completly. What i also noticed is that the computer was still powering USB devices. my guess is that its a BIOS feature or somthing. I just order the cooler master hyper 212 evo to get rid of the annoying noise the stock fan has and reduce the heat. If that doesn't solve the problem my guess is the PSU is not giving out enough wattage but i also went onto a wattage calculator and estimated my psu is using 475 watts out of 600. Im out of ideas. IF... The Cool master fan i am using doesnt fix the issue, My guess is that the MOBO could be defective, My PSU is not giving out enough watts or its defective.

The only way to get a stable overclock is in the BIOS with manual settings. The auto overclockers never work well.

So i replaced the Cpu Stock and and it did help alittle but still shut down 30 mins instead of 10.

So I went into the Bios and changed the CPU frequency to 4.0 ghz. would that be the appropriate way to stop auto overclock. Im kinda new when it comes to Messing with the BIOS.

So it didnt work. still shuts down. Its strange becasue the AMD Catalyis Control center i changed it to 3.5 ghz and no shut down. when the computer shus down the PSU still remains powerd giving usb devices power and giving out a sound that its still on but the fan is completely off

i feel like somewhere your settings are still wrong, but i dont know how to help any further. Re install windows? simply reset BIOS to optimized defaults. do it all again.

Run some benchmark on it to see what the temperatures do under full load and try some other software for reading the temperatures. 70 F is really a nonsense (though at load, the readings might start to make more sense). What does CPU-Z say about the voltages?

I some how fixed the problem by adding more fans to my computer to the top of my case, I have a Raidmax Viper Gx case. i havent had a shut down and my cpu is atleat 59 degrees Fahrenheit.

Btw 59 Fahrenheit is 15°C; that reading doesn't really say much. However, these amd cpus are known to report nonsense values when their temperature is below roughly 40°C. That's why I say to ignore the values at idle and find out what the temperatures are under full load.
