So im looking at upgrading my GTX650 for something new the options ive found are: a new $300 msi 7970, a new $370 Asus r9 280x and a 2 month old asus r9 290 for $400 (card has already been RMA but has warranty)
(nzd$)
which do you guys will be best for me to get? I game on a single 1080x 1920 with another 1440p monitor displaying ts3 constantly, im mainly wanting to play games on high/ultra for the next 2 years

cheers

Solution
GTX 680 is comparable to GTX 770 or R9 280X in terms of raw performance right now, but I doubt if it'll beat the R9 280X or HD 7970 in the near future, given its age, memory bandwidth and memory bus. I'd still say HD 7970.

in my country the 290 starts at $689 new with reference cooler so im really stuck onwhat to do, the msi version of the 7970 is pretty good but im not sure how long it will last at 60fps on ultra

Well that's crazy pricing. Anyways, yes a HD 7970 will last you atleast 2 years of comfortable Ultra gaming, just checkout the link I gave you. It manages 60 FPS on most games. So taking the future games to be more intensive, you may deduct 10-20 FPS from those, and are still on a healthy 40-50 FPS :)
