Hi there,

I bought my card friday and I have problem in games. Each time I enter a game, got a heavy video card crash. Windows event ID41, then biiiiiiiiiip bip-bip-bip (video card problems).

By googling the name of the card + game crash, I see many user who have i5 or i7 have the same problem as me. Some tells they update their BIOS and the problem is gone.

So, I downloaded an update of the bios from Asus.com
The problem is when I try to flash the update, got a "This patch does not support this Card!" message so I can't flash it. :(

Anybody had this problem ?

-edit- 2Gb version. Please ask any question, I'll reply, I'm quite desesperate... :(

Eduello, many thanks.

Sorry for french for some component. I don't know why Everest tells me there's 4 cards, windows system tells me only one. Maybe it lists cores or something ?

Corsair TX650, 5 year old (650W).

I though that was the problem so I'm buying a AX860i, I know it's overkill but it will be silent once I would configure the fans.

Okay... Flashing a bios is something I really dislike to do :/

I can't tell what rev the video card is. Asus's GPU Tweaks tells me the BIOS is :
GTX770 VB Ver 80.04.EB.00.AS01

BUT Asus's GPU-z tells me it's a A :
GPU : GK104 Revision A2
BIOS : version 80.04.EB.00.2A

Maybe that's the base of my problem...

Okay, mobo bios flashing is done. Had to setup only order of load for boot.

I profited of this occasion to perform FULL drivers updates. Any driver on this computer is up to date, windows aswell.
Still can't install the V-card bios update.
Still crashing in games.

So I did :
- re-enabled the pagefile
- check for dumping minidump (because no pagefile = no minidump)
- crashed again

Yay minidump.

Using a analysing tool, I've got this (some words i forgot to translate are in french, sorry for this). It seems the culprit is C:\Windows\system32\drivers\dxgkrnl.sys
I don't know what it is or why it crashes :/

If you're still there Eduello, or anyone, I would love to know what can I do. Nothing really new in Event log except the error for no minidump is gone.

Oh I fell sorry for all the troubles I've got...

- DirectX x64 says "no, you allready have it" at install. Did not try the x86 version.
- Clean video driver instal with this software is what I did this morning...

:/

I don't really know how DirectX is installed, some game use Direct X 10, some the 11, I hope nothing is "written for that particular GPU" at install. :/

dxDiag says I've got a 4038MB 770, which is not what I have, got a 2Gb one (or I can't read dxDiag).

Seems really odd... Is performing a clean install of Windows out of the question?

Well, it's a 5 year old install, I've cleaning it wiselly, at least I tried, not tuning stupid things but I'd rather not reinstall if possible :/

My personal background is master in electronics + 7 year software dev. Well I can do stupid things, I sure do, but usually I know what I do with Windows :/

If I found the solution, I'll post it because the more I'm searching on Google, the more I think a lot of people have the same BSOD as me :/

Well unless it's something really obvious that we both missed, I can see only two reasons for your issue:
1. Hardware failure, can only be tested out by replacing parts.
2. A software/driver issue, which is really hard to pinpoint due to the complexity of modern operating systems and drivers.

A clean installation of Windows should fix it if it's option number two, so that's why I recommended it.

I'm considering a repair install. Problem is the tutorial I see starts with SP1 DVD, I've got the first release of Win7 so no Sp1 :/

I'd really like to uninstall / reinstall Direct X first, then uninstall/reinstall graphical drivers second, to check if it's not the root of my problem... Problem is DirectX is somehow in Win7 kernel. So usually reinstalling directx is made via reinstalling windows.

My new PSU comes in 10 days, GPU shop warranty stop in 5 days (else it's Asus and I don't know how many times it will take).

Aaaaaaaaaah headache :)

Hum there's some scratches on PCI Express port. Copper isn't fully recovering 2 "pins". This plus a very old mobo may make a false contact.

Well... I think it's RMA for her :/

I'll try to change PCI-E port before.

Yeah, scratches on the PCI-E port can definitely cause issues like this.
