Solution

If you're really on a tight budget and don't want to buy new parts, yes I'd recommend you getting a quad (Q9xxx series at least 3Ghz), but the really optimal way to go at it would be getting an entry level Motherboard + i3 1150 + 4GB RAM or 8GB, which would set you about the same as a good Core 2 Quad chip (those are rare and kind of expensive for what they are, at least in my country, used.) and would be a better option for gaming and things alike.

No, that motherboard is only compatible with the Socket 775 CPUs, mainly Intel Core 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad, etc.

thanks a lot guys... lemme tell u.. i dont wana throw this M'board... its workin fine n i m not that much into gaming (although i play CS very well ).... i just want my PC for simple daily tasks n some kinda programing ... i gave a thought to upgrade my PC config coz now a days basic s/w r coming up with newer versions n running those upgraded ones on old config was limiting my experience .. even internet browser's performance is getting worse day by day :D .. i will go for Core 2 Quad ..

The Q6600 and the Q8200 are the cheapest on the market, they're low clocked quads though so single core performance will be reduced, again I'd suggest you picking up a 3Ghz + model. (ex: Core™ 2 Quad Q9650)
